Mount Pleasant Substation, Vancouver, BC

Mount Pleasant Substation is part of a BC Hydro upgrade to make the City's electrical grid more reliable.  It is located in an industrial zone that includes existing heritage residences therefore the development needed to be sensitive to the neighbouring community. Features include:

  • First substation in Canada to achieve LEED Silver

  • Public engagement process to receive input from the adjacent community

  • Transformers & switchgear to change voltage from 230Kv to 12Kv

  • Exterior materials, brick, metal & glass that require no maintenance

  • Public Art incorporated into glass facade and park

  • Durable no maintenance landscaping
